Established in 1992, Ashiana has remained one of Stafford’s favourite eateries for almost 25 years.
Formerly known as the “Rose of Kashmir” the restaurant came from humble beginnings starting life in a small single storey shop seating 50 people.
Current owner and manager Ozi Munir joined the team in 1998 helping to make the restaurant Stafford’s favourite Indian restaurant.
Ozi and his family have been serving Britain’s favourite dish to Staffordian’s for almost 50 years, his father-in-law opened Stafford’s first Indian restaurant, Curry Kuteer in 1968 and his father opened Stafford’s first Indian takeaway in 1978.
In 2004 the first expansion began, the venue was transformed from a traditional curry house, to a modern, contemporary restaurant, extending to the unit next door and expanding to 90 covers.
Demand continued to outstrip supply and in 2007 expansion plans were once again set in place. The name was changed to Ashiana, and the restaurant relocated to a new venue. Formerly the Reynolds nightclub, Ashiana gave this iconic venue a new lease of life.
Some things remain the same, Ozi was still manager and his business partner, Khalid, was still executive chef as he was in 1992.
The facilities offered make Ashiana a unique dining venue within Stafford. In keeping with traditional balti roots customers are still allowed to bring in their own alcohol but now the restaurant also has a fully licensed bar. We now boast a large open plan dining area capable of seating 200 diners. The restaurant has its own secure private undercover car park, is fully air-conditioned, single level disabled access and baby changing facilities, to name just a few.
We also offer a takeaway/ collection and home delivery service.
With superb surroundings, a warm friendly atmosphere, helpful waiting staff and award winning cuisine…it is no surprise we are Stafford’s number one Indian Restaurant.
